Pre-Doctoral Psychology Internship Program

The predoctoral psychology internship at the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System (VA HCS) is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association (APA). The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System Psychology internship training Program is also a member of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC), which provides a platform for the internship and postdoctoral training seeker. Bay Pines participates in the APPIC Directory On Line (DoL), follows all APPIC policies and guidelines with commitment. 

Internship applicants Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants enrolled in a clinical or counseling psychology American Psychological Association (APA)-accredited program or Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) accredited graduate program in Clinical, Counseling, or Combined psychology, or Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS) program in Clinical Science are eligible.
  • Competitive applicants should have a minimum of 600 face-to-face combined intervention and assessment hours at the time of application.
  • Candidates with generalized assessment and psychotherapy training preferred.
  • VA practicum experience and research experience are highly desirable.

Post-Doctoral Psychology Fellowship 

Bay Pines has trained postdocs since 2008 and has been fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association since December 4, 2012. Candidates will have adequate intervention skills when completed an internship.

Fellowship  applicants Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidate should have completed a doctoral degree from an APA accredited program either in clinical or counseling psychology plus have completed an APA accredited predoctoral internship.
  • Candidates with experience with general psychological assessment instruments, intervention skills.
  • Applicants with VA internships experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Appropriate candidates should be familiar with general psychological assessment instrument.
  • Appropriate candidates should be interested in clinical research, and program development with an specialty area.
  • Applicants with both clinical and research experience in specialty areas are highly desirable.

Post-Doctoral Neuropsychology Fellowship Residency

Bay Pines has trained Neuropsychology Postdoctoral Residents since 2015 and is a member of the Association of Postdoctoral Programs in Clinical Neuropsychology (APPCN). We participate in the National Matching System and follows all NMS policies and guidelines with commitment.

Fellowship  applicants Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicant must have completed all doctoral requirements and have record of degree conferral prior to starting the program.  Only graduates from an American Psychological Association (APA) or Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) accredited graduate program in Clinical, Counseling, or Combined psychology, or Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS) program in Clinical Science are eligible.
  • Applicants with a doctorate in another area of psychology who meet the APA or CPA criteria for re-specialization training in Clinical, Counseling, or Combined Psychology are also eligible.
  • Applicants should be enrolled or have completed an internship program accredited by the APA Commission on Accreditation or have completed a VA-sponsored internship that is in the process of seeking accreditation to be eligible.
  • Appropriate candidates should have a strong background in Neuropsychological Assessment and Intervention.
  • Applicants who have had Neuropsychology focused practica, internship rotations or research experience are highly desirable.
