Amputee Support Group
The Bay Pines VAHCS Amputee Support Group has been in existence for over 10 years. The mission of the support group is to provide support and education to the veteran who has undergone amputation or is at risk for amputation throughout the course of both the physical and psychological rehabilitation process. In addition, the group is dedicated to limb loss prevention education as well as discussion of health and wellness topics to enhance quality of life. The group meets on a monthly basis and routinely hosts guest speakers from both the VA system and community organizations. Many of the group's members are active in the community as well as serve as Bay Pines volunteers. The group has participated in a variety of recreational activities including fishing, scuba diving, skiing, biking and sailing.
For additional information about the Amputee Support Group, please contact Sara Dodrill, PT, DPT at 727-398-6661 x14606. The group meets on the third Tuesday of every month, 1-2pm, in building 101 (Community Living Center) at the C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center. Family members/caregivers are also welcome and encouraged to attend.
