Bay Pines Now Offering Same Day Screening Mammograms

BAY PINES, FL – The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System (VAHCS) now offers same day screening mammograms at the C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center located in Bay Pines, Fla., and Lee County Healthcare Center located in Cape Coral, Fla.

The service enhancement initiative was launched to expand access to mammography services, provide earlier detection of breast cancer, and improve optimize health care outcomes.

Women Veterans, 40 years of age or older, who would like a screening mammogram, including patients with implants, female transgender, and male transgender patients can schedule a same day appointment by calling the Radiology Department at the C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center at 727-398-6661, extension 12538, or by calling the Lee County Healthcare Center’s Radiology Department at 239-652-1800 extension 20268.

Walk-ins and non-established patients (patients not previously seen by Radiology) will also be accommodated at both locations.

“Providing same day mammography services is an important way for us to stay engaged and better serve the unique needs of Veterans,” said Suzanne M. Klinker, Director, Bay Pines VA Healthcare System.

“We are committed to breaking down access barriers, improving service delivery, and enhancing the Veteran experience. Same day mammography is another way we are achieving that end,” she said.
