Bay Pines VA to Host Hurricane Preparedness Fairs July 20 and July 27

BAY PINES, FL – The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System (BPVAHCS) will host two hurricane preparedness fairs to educate and assist Veterans and their loved ones, VA employees, and others with personal preparedness actions related to hurricanes and other storm related events.

Location #1: C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center, JC Cobb Room (1D-127)

  • Address: 10,000 Bay Pines Blvd., Bay Pines, FL 33744
  • Date: Friday, July 20, 2018
  • Time: 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Event Details: A short opening hurricane preparedness presentation will be provided by the Pinellas County, Fla. Office of Emergency Management. Following the presentation, fair attendees will be able to visit with numerous VA and community service providers to include, but not limited to, Seminole Fire and Rescue; Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office; American Red Cross; St. Petersburg Emergency Management; Pinellas County Emergency Management; Tampa Bay Water, and Duke Energy. Prospective attendees are encouraged to visit the fair any time between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. for information and resources. Light refreshments will be available. All are encouraged to attend.

Location #2: Lee County Healthcare Center, Main Lobby

  • Address: 2489 Diplomat Parkway East, Cape Coral, FL 33909
  • Date: Friday, July 27, 2018
  • Time: 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Event Details: Attendees will be able to visit with numerous VA and community service providers to include, but not limited to, Lee County Emergency Management; United Way; One Blood; and the American Red Cross. Prospective attendees are encouraged to visit the fair any time between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. for information and resources. Light refreshments will be available. All are encouraged to attend.

Hurricane season is June 1 – November 30 each year. Historically, storm activity increases during the middle to late summer timeframe.
