Bay Pines VAHCS to host LGBT pride observance today, June 21

BAY PINES, FL - The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System will host its annual LGBT Pride Observance today, June 21, 2018, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The event will take place in the JC Cobb room located on the first floor of the C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center (building 100). Click here for address information and a campus map.
The celebration theme is "This is Me." The theme draws attention to the unique strength gained from diversity and recognizes the contributions of members of the LGBT community.
Community service providers and other local LGBT organizations will be onsite to share services offered to the LGBT community. Information on healthcare services and benefits offered to LGBT Veterans will also be available. Representatives from the St. Petersburg VA Regional Office will also be present to assist LGBT Veterans with questions about their military discharge. Information tables will open at 11:30 a.m. The formal program begins at 12:00 p.m.
The VA takes pride in Serving LGBT Veterans and supporting the LGBT community. The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System has been named a “Leader in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality” from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC) since 2013. The HRC is the educational arm of the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) civil rights organization.
