BAY PINES, FL -
Veterans and their families are invited to attend the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System’s 85th Anniversary Open House events at the C.W. Information and available resources for Veterans will include VA health care benefits, VA benefits (non-medical), volunteer opportunities, VA employment information, women Veterans services, suicide prevention, and services specifically for Operation Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, and New Dawn Veterans.

Vietnam Veterans who attend the events may also receive a special commemorative lapel pin, along with several other items, as part of the Nation’s continued commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War.

The open house events are being held to celebrate the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System’s 85th anniversary and to highlight the programs and services the organization offers Veterans. Bay Pines officially opened its doors to serve Veteran on March 16, 1933 as a National Soldiers Home for disabled volunteer soldiers. At that time, there were 250 employees on duty and facilities capable of providing health care services for about 159 Veterans.

Over the years, the healthcare system grew exponentially. Today, Bay Pines is one of the largest VA healthcare systems in the country. The organization serves more than 110,000 Veterans, and employs nearly 4,300 clinical and administrative professionals.
