Bay Pines VA to host Annual Veterans Day Ceremony Nov. 11

BAY PINES, FL – The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System will host its annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Saturday, November 11, at 11:00 a.m. The ceremony will take place in the courtyard located between buildings 2 and 37 at the C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center Campus. The event is open to all Veterans, their family and friends, and the general public.

Highlights of the ceremony will include local VA leaders from the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System, St. Petersburg VA Regional Office, Bay Pines National Cemetery, and U.S. Representative Charlie Crist (FL-13). The distinguished keynote speaker for the event will be U.S. Navy Rear Adm. (Ret.) John Kirby. Kirby is a CNN military and diplomatic analyst and most recently served as Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs. He appears regularly on The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer and across all of CNN's programming providing analysis on issues related to the U.S. military, defense, foreign affairs and diplomacy.

Master of ceremonies for the event will be Jacqueline Matter. She is the anchor of ABC7 News at 11, and the co-anchor of ABC7 News at 5 and 6. Jacqueline joined the ABC7 News team in December of 2016 as co-anchor on Good Morning Suncoast.

The event will also include musical performances by the Keswick Christian School Choir; a special parade of colors provided by local Veteran Service Organizations; and traditional military presentations to include the posting and retiring of the U.S. Flag, a firing salute, and a taps performance and more.

Important note for attendees and local media:

Signage will be posted around the medical center campus to direct visitors to the venue. Reserved and general parking will be available nearby. A shuttle service will also be available to provide transportation for guests from parking lots to the ceremony area. The event will take place outdoors.
