Bay Pines VAHCS Now Fully Operational Following Hurricane Irma Recovery

September 15, 2017

BAY PINES, FL – The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System (VAHCS) announced today that all facilities, with the exception of its Palm Harbor location, are operational and now seeing patients following recovery operations associated with Hurricane Irma.  Healthcare system leaders anticipate reopening the Palm Harbor Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) for regular business hours on Monday, September 18.

“Over the course of the last six days, our dedicated employees prepared for a response to a major hurricane, ensured the safety of Veterans, and restored services to all locations after being virtually shut down due to the storm,” said Suzanne M. Klinker, Director, Bay Pines VAHCS.

“None of this could have been possible without the partnership of the VA Sunshine Healthcare Network, the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital and Clinics in Tampa, the Orlando VA Medical Center, the North Florida/South Georgia Healthcare System in Gainesville and Lake City, and first responders across the community.”

Veterans will be contacted by VA staff to reschedule all appointment impacted by clinic closures or suspended services. Additionally, effective 12:00 a.m., September 16, 2017, VA’s Pharmacy Disaster Relief Program will be deactivated. Veterans who require medications are to follow the regular process for filling or refilling medications.
