Thousands Gather to Recognize Service of America’s Heroes on Veterans Day

December 2, 2016

BAY PINES, FL – Dressed in red, white, and blue, thousands of residents of the Tampa Bay Community gathered at the Bay Pines Veterans Day Ceremony on November 11th to recognize the service and sacrifice of America’s Veterans.

Conducted at the C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center, the event was fully stocked with music, ceremonial tributes, and remarks.

Speakers included U.S. Representative David W. Jolly and local VA leaders from the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System, St. Petersburg VA Regional Office, and Florida National Cemetery. Fox 13 news anchor Mark Wilson was master of ceremonies for the event.

Keynote Speaker for the ceremony was U.S. Marine Corps Major General (Retired) Arnold Fields representing the Department of Defense Office of Commemorations.   He attended the event to honor all Veterans and specially recognize Vietnam Veterans and their family members for their service as part of the nation’s commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War.

For Congressman Jolly, an ardent supporter of Veterans and their loved ones, the sheer number of those in attendance validated the community’s commitment to honoring and recognizing Veterans – the brave men and women who sacrificed so much for the freedoms we all enjoy.

This year’s ceremony saw near record attendance – a sign that Tampa Bay will always support and honor America’s heroes.
