Primary Care Salute to Vietnam Veterans Scheduled for Flag Day, June 14

June 13, 2016

BAY PINES, FL -- The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System (VAHCS) will host a Primary Care Salute to Vietnam Veterans on Flag Day, June 14, at the C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center and VA outpatient clinics located in Bradenton, Cape Coral, Naples, Palm Harbor, Port Charlotte, Sarasota, St. Petersburg, and Sebring. The activity is being held as part of the organization’s continued commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War.

On this day, Vietnam Veterans with regularly scheduled Primary Care appointments will be presented with a special commemorative lapel pin. Living United States Veterans who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time during the period of November 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975, regardless of location are eligible to receive one pin. Vietnam Veterans simply have to notify their respective Primary Care providers or any member of their Patient Align Care Team (PACT) that they served during the timeframe noted. No official documentation is required. Information about the lapel pin is available at: www.vietnamwar50th.com/assets/1/7/Veteran_Lapel_Pin_Fact_Sheet.pdf.

"Across the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System, we serve more than 50,000 men and women who honorably and bravely served during the Vietnam War. Many of these heroes were not properly recognized and welcomed home after sacrificing so much for the freedoms we enjoy," said Suzanne M. Klinker, Director, Bay Pines VAHCS. "Our activity on June 14 is one small way we are honoring Vietnam Veterans and thanking them for their service on behalf of a grateful nation."

The Primary Care Salute to Vietnam Veterans is a continuation of several events conducted by the Bay Pines VAHCS to honor Vietnam Veterans as an official commemorative partner of the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration authorized by Public Law 110-181 and by Presidential Proclamation.
