Happy Doctors' Day 2016
March 30, 2016
The nation officially celebrates National Doctors’ Day Today, March 30, 2016. On this day, we honor all of our present and past physicians for the exemplary work they do to take care of patients and to improve access to our health care system.
The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System employs nearly 500 doctors who come to work every day to take care of America’s Veterans – dedicated to the VA mission and our core values of Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect and Excellence (I CARE). The skilled hands of our doctors offer encouragement, expertise and support to the Veterans and family members they interact with every day. Their professionalism helps fulfill our nation’s commitment to honor and serve those who served us so well.
The first Doctors’ Day observance was March 30, 1933, in Winder, Ga. on the anniversary of the first use of general anesthetic in surgery. On March 30, 1958, a Resolution Commemorating Doctors’ Day was adopted by the U.S. House of Representatives. In 1990, Congress established March 30 each year as the National Doctors' Day.
In honor of our physicians tireless efforts at the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System and across our great nation, thank you for caring for our sick, advancing medical knowledge, and promoting the good health of the brave men and women we have the honor and privilege to serve.
Happy Doctors’ Day!
