BAY PINES, Fla. – The James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital and Clinics (JAHVH) and Bay Pines VA Healthcare System (VAHCS) will host a joint employment and information fair on Saturday, May 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The event will take place at the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital Polytrauma Center/Spinal Cord Injury building located at 13000 Bruce B. Downs, Blvd., Tampa, Fla. 33612. All Veterans, active duty service members, spouses, and the general public are invited to attend. Free parking will be available.

The focus of the fair is to care for Veterans - either by providing information about VA benefits and a variety of open job opportunities or by hiring individuals to join VA’s patient-centered health care team.

During the event, Veterans will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) and others to learn about various services and benefits they may be eligible to receive. Veterans will also have the opportunity to meet with approximately 30 potential employers from Tampa Bay community. Only employers with active job openings will be participating. Services will also be available for Veterans who wish to participate in employment skill enhancement opportunities such as resume writing and review, and interview training.

In addition to the services targeted specifically for Veterans and their families, job opportunities for nursing and other health care professions will be available. VA is actively hiring for a variety of positions within the Tampa and St. Petersburg areas. Positions include medical support assistants, respiratory therapists, medical technologists and all levels in the nursing career field from nursing assistants to experienced registered nurses. Additional VA positions are available in a variety of areas.

Hiring managers and recruitment experts will be onsite to answer questions about specific vacancies and will also conduct interviews with qualified candidates. Tentative job offers may be extended to qualified professionals pending required license verifications, physical exams, background checks and other administrative actions.

Individuals interested in seeking employment should bring the following documentation to the event if applicable: a valid form of government-issued identification; completed resume that includes license information and detailed work history; references list; military discharge papers (DD-214); VA service connected disability letter and Schedule A Letter.
