10 crew members visiting bed ridden patient.

USS Independence crew members visited with Community Living Center residents while at port in St. Petersburg.

Wednesday, September 7, 2011

The USS Independence * was docked in St. Petersburg over Labor Day weekend.  While at port, several of the crew members came to Bay Pines’ Community Living Center to visit with our residents.  It was a great opportunity for Navy Vets to swap stories and for all Veterans to feel appreciated and remembered by those currently wearing the uniform.  Their visit really brightened some spirits.

Several of our Domiciliary residents also got to go on a private tour of the ship while it was at port.  They really enjoyed the activity and getting to see the ship up close.

Many thanks to USS Independence for opening their ship and their hearts to Bay Pines' Vets.
