"They are dead; but they live in each Patriot’s breast,
And their names are engraven on honor’s bright crest."
-Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

A beautiful breezy morning provided an ideal setting for a crowd of over 3,500 to commemorate Memorial Day at Bay Pines VA on May 30th.  The community support and attendance displayed was a true honor to those who have given their lives in battle.  Following a Silent Drill Team performance by Clearwater High School Marine Corps JROTC, the ceremonial opening concluded with a flyover by the Army & Air National Guard 125th Air Wing  - and the crowd loved it.  Arranged by Congressman C.W. Bill Young, the flyover of two F-15s was timed perfectly as Ms. Erica Diceglie finished the national anthem and the crowd applauded them on with cheers of patriotism.  Ceremony speakers included Thomas Bowman, Senior Advisor, VA Sunshine Healthcare Network, and Lt. General Martin Steele, retired U.S. Marine Corps.  Gibbs High School JROTC performed a firing salute and Ms. Erla Richardson played Amazing Grace on the bagpipes.  One of the largest crowds ever, the ceremony paid homage to those who have served and paid the ultimate price for freedom.

Bay Pines would like to thank all who supported the event as well as the thousands who attended to honor and remember those who gave all.
