On October 1, 2012, the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System implemented a new tobacco policy that further enforces tobacco restrictions, both indoors and outdoors on all Bay Pines VAHCS owned and leased properties. The new policy change restricts tobacco use to designated tobacco areas only. This new policy change will affect the main medical center campus in Bay Pines, and all satellite outpatient clinic locations to include Bradenton, Lee County, Naples, Palm Harbor, Port Charlotte, Sarasota, St. Petersburg, and Sebring. This policy covers all tobacco products, including chewing tobacco, and extends to everyone who smokes--patients, visitors, employees, students and vendors.
