Nutrition Counseling

Healthy diet and nutrition can make a profound impact on a person’s health. Everyday choices of the foods we eat affect the body and how well it functions. The Registered Dietitians in the Nutrition and Food Services Department are committed to providing exceptional services to meet veterans’ needs. Nutrition plays a vital role in the prevention and treatment of disease, as well as in the recovery from acute illness. Nutrition Counseling provides nutrition assessment and counsel regarding the appropriate diet for a healthy lifestyle as well as treatment for various disease states.

Individualized Nutritional Counseling Offered

Individualized nutrition counseling is provided for many health issues that are affected by the diet, including:

Referral Criteria

You may be referred to nutrition counseling or classes by your primary care provider. If you wish more information on nutrition counseling, please call 727-398-6661 extension 15549. Appointments are usually 30 to 60 minutes in duration and are available Monday through Friday.  Classes are offered on a regular schedule.
