We provide optometry and ophthalmology services within our Eye Care department.
Optometry provides primary eye care for the patient including, but not limited to, evaluation of refractive status, glaucoma check, cataract evaluation and evaluation of retinal health. We provide medical treatment for glaucoma, eye infections and inflammations, and eye injuries. Specialty contact lenses are fit for patients with corneal disease or post ophthalmic surgery patients. Low vision evaluations are provided for the visually impaired. Optometry also provides care for the patient with myopia, presbyopia astigmatism, hyperopia, glaucoma, and cataracts. Patients diagnosed by optometry requiring eye surgery are referred to Ophthalmology. Referrals by your primary care provider are required.
Ophthalmology provides diagnoses and treatment of various diseases of the eye, including cornea, lens, musculature, and retinal disease. Common surgical procedures performed by ophthalmology include: cataract extraction and lens implantation and corneal surgery. Referrals are typically made after evaluation by optometry.
