Bay Pines VA to Participate in Threshers Veterans Appreciation Night

BAY PINES, FL – The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System will participate in the Clearwater Threshers Military and Veterans Appreciation Night at Bright House Field as the Threshers square off against the Lakeland Flying Tigers this Friday at 6:30 p.m.

As part of the event, representatives from the Bay Pines VA, James A. Haley Veterans Hospital, and St. Petersburg VA Regional Office, will be available to offer a wide range VA benefits information and services to Veterans and their families who attend the game.

“This is a great opportunity for Veterans and their families to come out to watch a great baseball team and to be recognized for their service to our nation,” said Fred Liggett, Transitional Patient Advocate and Veterans Outreach Lead, Bay Pines VA. “At the same time, they will have an opportunity to take advantage of the great VA benefits they may be entitled to receive,” he said.

As part of the night’s festivities, Threshers players will wear special camouflage jerseys to honor all current and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces. Additional activities include a pre-game Para Commando jump, swearing-in ceremony on the field, along with video messages from current service members.

All active duty service members and Veterans will have the opportunity to purchase field box tickets for just $5. Discounted food and drink options will also be available.

The gates will at 5:30 p.m. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a Threshers replica camouflage jersey courtesy of LaQuinta Inn.
