Solar Photovoltaic System
In June 2012, construction was completed on a 1.8 megawatt Solar Photovoltaic (PV) System on the main Bay Pines VA Healthcare System campus. The carport -like design will reduce Bay Pines’ energy bill by about $189,000 per year while providing 773 shaded parking spots (reducing temperatures inside vehicles as much as 35 degrees Fahrenheit) for Veterans and staff. The new system is expected to be active very soon pending required energy testing.
