Bay Pines VA Healthcare System depends on the goodwill of our benefactors and volunteers who wish to give something back to America's heroes.

Volunteering

Volunteers provide many important functions throughout the Healthcare System and help make our patients' stay more enjoyable. Volunteers can perform a number of services, and a volunteer's talents are closely matched with one of our many assignments.

Our volunteers represent more than 50 community, civic and veteran service organizations.  Some give their time on a regularly scheduled basis, others visit our patients for special events and when their schedules permit.  Some groups sponsor meals at local restaurants so our veteran patients can have a dining experience outside of the medical center.  We appreciate each one of our volunteers and donors.

Giving

During 2006, we received more than $600,000 in monetary and non-monetary donations and our volunteers donated 216,869 hours of service. 

We could not provide many of the services for our veterans if it were not for the generosity of people in the community, the veterans service organizations, fraternal organizations, and businesses. Donations of cash and materials supplement the budget and provide for the needs of the veterans we serve. Donations are accepted to help provide our veteran patients with many things to make their periods of hospitalization and outpatient treatment more bearable.  We also accept donations to assist veterans who attend the Winter Sports Clinic, Golden Age Games, and the National Creative Arts Festival. Please see our needed items list.
