With a total of 6,700 square feet and two procedure rooms, our new state-of-the-art Cath Lab will enhance cardiac care for Veterans.  The brand new $4.1 million system uses digital x-ray detectors to take very high quality images that are then stored electronically and able to be accessed by other VA physicians.

In addition to catheterizations, the lab will also perform other cardiac interventions including:

  • percutaneous coronary interventions,
  • permanent pacemaker and ICD implantations (implantable cardioverter defibrillator ),
  • bi ventricular ICD implantations,
  • electrophysiology service (AVN (atrioventricular node) and aflutter ablations),
  • TEEs (transesophageal echocardiogram), and
  • cardioversions
Making a full range of cardiac interventions available to our patients.

Our original cath lab only had one procedure room, so the addition of a second room means that Vets won’t have to wait as long for elective procedures and with a total of 15 staff working in the lab, including four invasive cardiologists, we are ready to provide timely care to those in need.  Last year, our team performed almost 1,000 catheterizations and we expect this year’s figures to increase dramatically with the expansion.
