Janie Miller, a Registered Nurse working in our Surgical Intensive Care Unit, is getting ready to depart on a trip she'll never forget. She'll soon be part of a mission team working with Hand of Hope * to provide assistance in Haiti. She was actually scheduled to depart before the earthquake hit, but then when it did, the team was unable to go due to safety and other concerns. Now, her team, comprised of 29 international medical professionals, will unite in Miami on January 22nd and fly together to Port au Prince. The team will spend eight days in Haiti providing medical and dental care to those in need.
When asked, "What do you have to give?"
She responded, "Well, nothing extraordinary. My purpose in going to Haiti is no different than my every day calling to the VA, I have nursing skills, God’s love, and the desire to make a difference."
Janie is taking her own vacation time to be part of this mission trip and Bay Pines' applauds her for making a difference in the world. Best wishes for a successful and safe trip Janie!
