Currently, the Psychology Staff includes 50 doctoral level Clinical and Counseling Psychologists, 7 Interns, 2 Fellows and one Health Science Specialist. The mission is to provide high quality psychological services to medical and psychiatric patients within the context of cooperative, multi-disciplinary teams. In addition, staff are highly committed to the training of new professionals and are actively involved in the Internship training program. Individual as well as interdisciplinary research opportunities are found throughout the Healthcare System.
Organizationally, Psychology is one section of the Mental Health & Behavioral Sciences Service. The two primary disciplines in the service are psychology and psychiatry. The Chief is a Psychiatrist and the Assistant Chief is a Psychologist. Staff Psychologists are assigned to a variety of areas in the medical center. This diversity in assignment is augmented by diversity among our staff as well with a variety of theoretical orientations, past clinical and administrative experiences, multiple research/clinical specialties, and cultural backgrounds.
