The Joint Commission Accreditation *
In 2010, Bay Pines VA Healthcare System received full accreditation from the Joint Commission in our hospital, long term care, home care, and behavioral health programs.
CARF Accreditation *
Bay Pines VA Healthcare System has numerous programs that are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)
Stroke Certification *
Bay Pines VA Healthcare System is the first VA site in the state of Florida to receive Stroke Certification.
Commission on Cancer Accreditation *
We are one of the only VA facilities in our region to be accredited by the Commission on Cancer for the oncology care we provide.
In 2008, Bay Pines VA Healthcare System was the first VA in the nation to receive the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The GuidelinesSM–Stroke (GWTG–Stroke) Silver Performance Achievement Award. The award recognizes Bay Pines' commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of stroke care by ensuring that stroke patients receive treatment according to nationally accepted standards and recommendations. We received the Silver Award again in 2009 and the Gold Achievement Award in 2010 for continued excellence in stroke care.
We also received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The GuidelinesSM–Heart Failure (GWTG–Heart Failure) Bronze Performance Achievement Award in 2009, Silver Award in 2010, and Gold Award in 2011. This recognition is for our work to ensure that heart failure patients receive treatment according to nationally accepted standards and recommendations.
The Department of Veterans Affairs selected Bay Pines VA Healthcare System as the 2010 recipient of the Robert W. Carey Circle of Excellence Award, the department’s top honor for quality achievement. Bay Pines received awards from the Department in 2008 for Performance Excellence and in 2009 for the Robert W. Carey Trophy; making this the third consecutive award.
