The Bay Pines Department of Veterans Affairs Dietetic Internship Program is a 42-week applied practice program in dietetics. The program has a generalist emphasis. The educational experiences of classes and rotations focus on developing values, interrelationships and management of resources to prepare the practitioner to assist others in meeting the challenges of their social and physical environments. The curriculum encourages the development of a disciplined mind, critical and creative thought, skills in human relations and communications, flexibility, and as professional competence.
Mission Statement
The mission of the dietetic internship program is to prepare entry-level generalist dietitians who will serve veterans, the public and promote the profession of dietetics.
Accreditation
The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System Dietetic Internship has been granted developmental accreditation status by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education of the American Dietetic Association, 120 South Riverside Plaza, Suite 2000, Chicago, IL 60606, (312) 899-5400. Upon completion of all program requirements, graduates are eligible to receive a verification statement and take the exam to be registered.
